Thankful List for August -A couple of months ago I pulled a bunny out of Aida's box that had been given to her and gave it to Tuck and Libby. The kids have loved on it and slept with it. Recently, Libby named the bunny Aida. Its a little bittersweet. There is a part of me that feels a very real sting every time I hear her talking to Aida and looking for Aida and playing with Aida... all of the things I believed she would be doing with her real sister. But there is also a genuine sweetness in knowing how much they still think about her and love her from a far. -a new adoption journey for the Stewarts!!! -August 24th was two years from the first time we saw Aida's sweet face. We mourn the loss of the little girl that we will never know and the possibility that she will never have a home but we never regret the time that we thought of her as ours. We are a thankful for a lifetime that we get to pray for her and that God moved a lot of people to pray for a little girl over in Africa that they would have otherwise never have "known". And a few random things that have nothing to do with adoption: -snow cones and the "snowball" fight that occurred afterwards -fresh cut flowers and the sweet treat of having them in our house -cupcakes with Meredith -Chuck e Cheese with friends -watching Tuck grow up in many different ways in the last few months -Thomas' over for dinner -kids mesmerized by a bug "Tuck: Libby, what do you want to be when you grow up?" Libby: "a dog". Tuck: "what kind of dog?" Libby: "a pink one." -kids playing baseball in the backyard, Libby cheering them on -a little boy and his pillow business and all the people who encouraged him by ordering -"treasure walks" with Libby -Cat in the Hat at the Wichita Theatre and homemade pizza night -friends who watched my kids at different times during the month- Kelli, Melissa -FaceTime with Vicki and the girls! -Haddon arrived safe and sound! -Meegan Weaver's friendship and generous sharing of her talent -$10 Castaway Cove visit with the Tillers -the excitement of packages from grandparents -Tuck's first grade teacher and how much he LOVES first grade -"But the word is very near you. It is your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it." -Deut 30:14 -a new adventure for the Vander Pyl's (and getting to have one last playdate with Matthew) -Tuck "Mom, will you get up early with me and watch the sunset?" -the kids Sunday school teachers for the past year- they were wonderful (We are also thankful for the new teachers that they moved up to...I know they are going to be great) -"The price of anything is the amount of life you trade for it." -Henry David Thoreau -college students are back! -first BSM Wednesday lunch- over 350 students -Melissa Jacobson visiting -Fall LIne finished and up ready for ordering -All the help I got with cutting, etc this month (thanks to Krista, Kasi, Deborah, Melissa, Carson, Grace, and Kelli) -I'm thankful for Ben. The beginning of school is exciting and hard and challenging. There are lots of late ministry nights and activities and meetings that seem to go on without end. To add to that my fall clothing line launched around the same time. He always helps as much as can and has stayed up late many nights sorting t-shirts and entering data. He always comes home ready to play and wrestle with kids and eager to spend a little bit of quality time with them before they go to bed. He always comes home with an ear ready to listen and a heart desiring to encourage and help me. He really is our hero.

So many wonderful blessings...we should all count our blessings every day! Thanks for reminding me. I need to make my own list.
